The Astro Van get a "house call" visit

Mom Paterson's Chevy Astro Van broke down the other week. Sad day. The diagnosis was a blown head gasket. Even sadder day. The repair bill was going to be in the thousands. Not exactly an expenditure she'd planned on having. When our long-time friend, Minnie Marcias heard about it, she said her brother-in-law, Benjamin, also our friend, had some "friends" that could help.
Backstory: we know Minnie from when she was our maid. She still cleans our house for free sometimes, but we really can't figure out why. I recommend everyone find a friend that will clean their house for free while they're a work. :) Anyway, their connections are usually stereotypical of the Mexican easy-going culture. Their friends that they recommended that could help my mom's car may be certified, trade school educated mechanics. May be not. The work they do may be good. May be not. Either way, it's definitely not guaranteed. They maybe finish the work. They may be deported back to Mexico. Either way, they got paid.
This made me totally paranoid, but for better or worse, my mom embraced the idea of mechanics that would make a "house call" (aka - they're doing all of the work in our garage) and for a much, much better price of $750. The work isn't all the way done, but I took a picture of the car after they left the other day. It's scary. Very scary. Maybe this is what cars always look like while they're being worked on. Maybe not. Either way I'm nervous. BUT I'd trust Minnie with my life, and I have faith in the end, her connections will work out.
